who am i?

well,

i'm minh (pronounced like ming), she/it, i'm 19, from london but living in wales. i'm half vietnamese and half central european/ashkenazi jewish.

other than food i like techno and noise music (like this and this), rock climbing, and hanging out with crows. i'm studying marine biology, but i also do some work with queer/trans/youth charities.

in terms of food! my mum is a vietnamese chef and i have family in many countries, so i grew up with a lot of different cooking styles around me. i think a lot of it just kinda absorbed into my brain. i was really really picky as a kid so i'm trying to make myself try more foods (especially veg) now.

i obviously love vietnamese food a lot, and southeast/east asian food more generally. most of what i make isn't specific regional dishes, more fusion food i suppose, like my mum does. i am also trying to connect more with my european heritage, and i really like hungarian, polish and german food but i haven't attempted to make any yet.

currently some of my favourite foods are: phở (vietnamese aromatic broth with rice noodles, beef is best imo), goulash/gulyás or pörkölt (hungarian beef stews), bánh mì (vietnamese baguette sandwich, typically primary filling is grilled meat or cold cuts). i change my mind pretty often. kake udon (japanese noodles in umami dashi-based broth) is up there too.

i spend most of my time cooking (or more washing up, it never ends). i really love to cook for my friends and share food, and sometimes i cook together with people but i kinda prefer to cook by myself. sometimes i can get really intensely focused and annoying when i cook.

this is what i actually look like:

in case you know me, my discord is @crowboygirl, but i don't accept follow requests from strangers.
