i don't actually know how blogs work...anyway, today i had a really light lunch (pic below). cucumber sticks with hummus, goats cheese and spanish chorizo crackers. i sometimes struggle to keep food down so i don't usually have big lunches. goats cheese and chorizo is a really good combination. if i wasn't terrified of baking i think a puff pastry with those, some herbs, olive oil and sundried tomato would be nice.
i really want to make more proper vietnamese food. i've been thinking about viet style steak constantly for the past few days. it's marinated in fish sauce and some lime juice, seared and then sliced thinly, and served with a rice vermicelli salad, so vietnamese pickles, fresh cucumber, coriander, mint and crushed peanuts. SO GOOD. i also keep saying i'm gonna make phở soon, i have all the ingredients to make phở gà/chicken pho apart from the fresh herbs, but i'm not sure how i'll char the onion and ginger because i don't have a gas stove or a blowtorch. i'll probably dry sear it in a frying pan but i'm scared of setting off the fire alarm.
